I just learned about the passing of Ian. I work at J&J Industries in Dalton, GA, and worked quite a bit with Ian years ago. He was truly a kind man and was easy to work with selling our carpet in Canada. I know he had to be a good family man, too, as we often had conversations about our families. Please accept my late condolences and know that your family is in our prayers. Cheryl Smith 409 Foster Road Dalton, GA 30720 USA

Arlene, I'm so sorry to hear of Ian's passing. I will always remember fondly our dinners and conversations at the neighbourhood diner. He was one of the great people you rarely meet - thankfully I had the privilege. My thoughts are with you Arlene and families at this time. Take good care. Spencer.

I remember when Ian and Arlene came to our house for dinner one night. Ian came in all excited and proceeded to pull a cassette tape (remember those) out of his pocket and eagerly popped it in the tape deck and pressed play.
Well.. rather than some favoured music mix or some highly amusing comedy routine...we proceeded to be regaled with a 10 minute sonic wunderfest of the sound of his beloved 1968 (I think) Camero as he drove it around the street. Only Ian could come up with the idea of putting his portable cassette deck in the back seat and then driving around the neighbourhood with the microphone hanging out the rear window so he could record the sound of his own exhaust!! Hilarious and wonderful and a moment neither of us will ever forget.
A fine man with a great spirit...gone way too soon.

Our thoughts are with you and the family at this very difficult time. We both have happy memories of the wine we shared while "dropping in" to share a laugh or the wonderful dinners we had in the County with you and Ian. May time heal and we will see you perhaps in the Spring? All our love and sending a big hug to you. J&B xoxoxo

Ian and I were friends and classmates at Roslyn School and Westmount High School in Westmount. We shared many interests in cars and spent some time and money at the old Westmount Hobby Shop on Sherbrooke Street West and building scale models of our favourite cars. After our days in school, our careers took us on separate paths and unfortunately for me, I lost contact with Ian. It is ironic that we both moved from Montreal to the Toronto area yet we did not know we were living in the same area. I will always cherish the memories and friendship which we shared and will remember Ian for his smile and cheery disposition. Thanks Ian for the privilege of meeting and knowing you.
