Obituary of Colin West

Colin Trevor West Died peacefully, surrounded by family in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto on Thursday, January 16, 2014. Beloved husband of Bonnie. Loving father of Steven (the late Bobbi) and Jeffrey (partner Lisa Nemish). Proud grandfather of Anna and Brooklyn. Brother of Derek (partner Joan Hart). Colin also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family. Born in Swindon, England in 1943, to the late Jock and Peggy West (nee Pettitt). His early years were spent in Swindon and Eastbourne, England, where he attended the Eastbourne Grammar School. Colin came to Canada with his family in 1952 and lived in Montreal, Quebec until 1994. A Chartered Accountant, he articled and became partner of Hyde Houghton & Company (now BDO Canada) in Montreal. Later became Vice President and CFO of Movenpick Canada Inc., President of Richtree Markets Restaurants Inc. Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Better Living at Thompson House and Better Living Health & Community Services. Board Chairman (1989) of Emmanuel Christian School in Dorval, Quebec. A faithful Christian, he served in the Anglican Church of Canada in many capacities in the Dioceses of Montreal and Toronto. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held in THE CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION, 33 Overland Drive (Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue) on Monday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations made to Better Living or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
