Obituary of Jenny Theodore

Jenny Theodore passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at Cedarvale Terrace Home at the age of 94, surrounded by her family and friends.  Born 1928 in the mountain village of Harakti, on the island of Kefalonia Greece, Jenny was one of five children to parents Vasili and Vasiliki Apostolatos. After the war, as a teenager, she ventured on her own to the city life of Athens to study the craft of dressmaking. She eventually made her way back to her beloved island where she established her successful atelier. A traveler at heart since a young age, she always had a suitcase ready to go, whether it was just between the mainland and her island, or later on in life between continents.

In 1959 Jenny married the handsome policeman Adam and started a family a year later. After a brief stay in Germany, they made their way to Canada where they established a home and raised their three children in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Jenny continued her work as a seamstress and became a vital part of her community. As an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church she dedicated her time to helping others through the Ladies Philoptochos Society serving as President for many years. She could be found baking endless trays of baklava for a bake sale, volunteering at the bingo for charity or selling raffle tickets at the local mall. Jenny was admired by many for her delicious cooking, green thumb and fashion sense. She loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. She adored animals of all kinds, and always had a cat or three in the house. As the years went by Jenny became a loving grandmother and enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She lived a long and fulfilled life doing what she loved. Ultimately Jenny moved to Toronto to spend her final years closer to her kids.Jenny is survived by her children Stasa (Vassili), Peter, Sheila (Anthony) ; grandchildren Joseph, Kimon and Jordan; her sister Irene, and many nieces and nephews in Australia. Jenny was predeceased by her husband Adam, her parents, her brother Eleftherios, and her sisters Anna and Elli. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Cedarvale Terrace LTCH for their exceptional care and kindness.  Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of Ontario.  A private funeral will be held.   Condolences may be left through www.humphreymiles.com
