Obituary of Mary Frances Hawkins

MARY FRANCES HAWKINS (NEE WOODCOCK)

Born September 12, 1924 in Brockville Ontario, passed away peacefully at Christie Gardens retirement residence in Toronto on Friday, December 1, 2017.  Mary, beloved wife of the late Magrath Cameron Hawkins was the loving mother of Cameron (Jane Short) and Ian (Linda Barnett).  Predeceased by her sisters Barbara and Margaret, she will be sorely missed by her sister Nancy.  Caring Nana to Blair (Sarah), Adrienne and Jamie.

Generous of spirit, Mary formed lifelong friendships at St. Clements School, Trinity College, UofT and later on in the community of York Mills.  Widowed at an early age Mary raised her two boys and maintained a career at the North York Board of Education.  Painting and music were her passions.

In her final years she became a member of the Christie Gardens community where she found a loving, respectful and spiritual home.  Her warm smile and gracious demeanour touched all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8th.  A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m.  A reception to follow the service in the Rosedale Room.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Christie Gardens Foundation through CanadaHelps.org would be appreciated.  Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
