Obituary of Nancy Gray

GRAY, Nancy Elizabeth (neé Burton) - November 27, 1916 - March 17, 2008 Early on March 17th and in her 92nd year, Nancy found the rest and peace she had been longing for these past few months. With grace, good humour, courage and conviction she eagerly joined her loving Gibson. Girl Guide, librarian, Halifax navy bride, mother, volunteer, Smoke Lake leaseholder, grandma and great-granny, Sunday School Superintendent, MacGregor group leader, Clerk of Session, bridge shark, crossworder and Claremont calendar girl - she was admired by generations of people - young and old - who benefited from her caring touch, wise counsel and steady friendship. Few may even remember the long-legged hurdling that earned her the Optima Trophy at Jarvis Collegiate. She will be fondly remembered by her three Gray girl families, the Porters - Patsy, Tim, Rosalind, Suzanna and Geoff Morgan; the Waugh/Eibners - Katy, Ralph Eibner (deceased), Emily Waugh, Maggie, Bruno, Sydney and Tucker Welt, Meghan and Juliane Eibner; the Coyles - Barbara, Dudleigh, Patrick, David and Megan Dunkley, and Nancy and Adam Moir. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Estelle Cunningham and her family and by her niece Elizabeth Renwick. Visitation on Friday, March 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and a Celebratory Service on Saturday, March 22 at 11 am will be held where she did her life's work, ROSEDALE UNITED CHURCH, 159 Roxborough Drive, Toronto (M4W 1X7).
