Jean Iver

Obituary of Jean Iver

IVER, Jean (nee Crane) May 28, 1930 - November 26, 2013 Passed peacefully in her sleep at home. Ever a teenager to her husband Anthony Iver, to whom she was married to for 53 years until his passing in 2003. Beloved mother of Dale Andrew (Marilou) Iver and Ann (Larry) Wilton, grandmother of Philip and Mary-Anne Iver and Danny Jr., Michael and Heather Placido and great-grandmother of Alaina, Kyla, Danrik, Michael Jr. and Taylor. She also leaves her sister Sylvia Bradshaw and brother David Crane. She goes to join her dear brother John Crane and father Charles Crane, both tragically taken too soon in life, as well as her mother May Gorden (nee Pickup). Coming to Canada alone in 1950 with a few dollars in her pocket and suitcase in hand, she never forgot the kindness of strangers and showed the same selflessness her entire life. Always a Yorkshire lass, the only thing she loved more than returning home to England was giving gifts and brightening the lives of those around her. Some of her last words on earth were of how she needed to bring the Christmas presents out, a sentiment that truly embodies her generous and tender soul. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1. Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, December 2 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In Jean's memory, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation - Veteran's Comfort Fund, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto M4N 3M5. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com. Gentle Jesus, meek and mild, look upon this little child.
