BRYANT, Elizabeth Elizabeth (Betty) Bryant, aged 90, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, where she resided for eleven years. Betty was born in Greenock, Scotland on October 25, 1923. She was the daughter of Andrew Houston and Georgina (Ina) Houston (nee Fullarton). She was raised in Saltcoats, Scotland and during WWII, she served in the National Fire Service. In May 1954 Betty emigrated to Toronto. She made a life long career for herself at the Shell Oil Company, beginning in the typing pool, and eventually becoming the Executive Assistant to the Treasurer of Shell Oil Canada. She made many close friends while at Shell and those friendships have endured. Betty was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Clan Donald, The Alpine Ski Club and the Glebe Manor Lawn Bowling Club. She was a long time member of Timothy Eaton United Church, and when she became unable to attend she listened weekly to the Sunday morning broadcast of their services. On April 28, 1978 Betty married widower Bill Bryant. They made a life together for nearly 25 years, forming a family with Bill's three children and welcoming five grandchildren. Their home was opened to family members who stayed while resettling in Toronto. They travelled to Cuba, Scotland, Cornwall, Morocco, Spain, Portugal and Alaska. Bill passed away in 2001. Betty was predeceased by her parents, brother Jim, dear cousin "Big Betty", sister-in-law Mary and step-daughter Ina. She is survived by her nephew Andrew, cousins Margo, Jack, Karen, Linda, Alan, Kara (Goddaughter) and Michael. Betty also leaves her two step-children Bill and Ann, grandchildren Sean, Elliott, Jeff, Lisa, Noel, son-in-law Norm and great-grandson Lucas. Her family wishes to thank the caring staff of The Briton House. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W.
