Obituary of Ronald Allan
ALLAN, Ronald Sommerville
At Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born on August 6, 1918, in Welland, Ontario, son of the late Catherine (née Smith) and William Allan. He was predeceased by this wife, Margaret (née House), who died on July 18, 2013, and by his brothers Alexander (Sandy), James and Bruce (RCAF 1944), and by his sister Jessie (Wilson, Friesen). He is survived by his nieces Barbara (Don) Brockway of Hamilton, Kaye (George) Haynes of Toronto, Lynn Allan of Peterborough and his nephew Bruce Allan of Tweed, as well as his many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Ronald served overseas in the RCAF during WW2. After the war, he attended Western University and became a secondary school mathematics teacher. He taught in the Welland and Port Colborne areas and York Township before moving to Toronto where his career ended in 1981, after teaching math at Leaside Secondary School for 23 years. The family is indebted to Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital K3C, as well as to Ronald`s special caregivers Robert, Tina and Norma for the exceptional loving care he received at the end of his life. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME, A.W. MILES CHAPEL Ltd 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22. Cremation has taken place and the interment of Ronald`s and Margaret`s ashes will take place later, in the Allan family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Welland.
