I was down at the Club today and the wind was roaring. It fell strangely silent shortly after I walked by Clontarf. The passing of a sailor took the wind out of my sails. Paul,I will see you every summer Wednesday night "out on the lake" as Clontarf and its crew race with your spirit at the helm. I am deeply saddened.

The Northlea School Community is shocked and extremely saddened by the passing of Mr. (Paul) Kay.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends, as well as his colleagues and students, both past and present.
During his 18-year stay at Northlea Elementary and Middle School, Mr. Kay taught hundreds and hundreds of students. He did so with passion and compassion, with great care and without pretense. Mr. Kay left an indelible mark on so many of our children, and from various sides of the country they are reaching out, in shock, with condolences.
Paul was a professional, working hard, and he was at the forefront of modern day teaching. At Northlea, he was an active and passionate proponent of technology in the classroom. In that role, as in others, he has left a legacy which is enjoyed every single day. Across the Toronto District School Board he generously shared his extensive knowledge, among other things about the use of Smartboards. Paul was a highly respected colleague, an appreciated friend, and will be missed very much. We mourn his passing, realizing the loss of so much more potential, but in great appreciation of the positive mark he has left on so many.

Paul and I would often take advantage of the longer lunches enjoyed by the staff and students of Northlea Elementary and would scoot over to Sushi and Tea on Mount Pleasant. They had an all-you-can-eat menu that was rivaled by no other restaurant in Toronto at that time. We would order mounds and mounds of sushi, sashimi, beef bulgogi and bowl after bowl of miso soup. Of course, every time, we would order more than we expected and realize that we had to stuff our mouths and rush back to the school just as the bell was ringing. On more than one occasion, students were waiting for me, my belly was aching but I would be happy knowing I had a good time with a good friend.
