Obituary of Douglas Clarke

Douglas (Doug) Albert Clarke, Ph. D. Doug Clarke died peacefully at his home in Toronto, Sunday morning, October 6, 2013 with close family by his side. He leaves behind his wife Katherine; step-children, Martha, Katie (Lazarus), Robbie and Annie; step-grandchild Evan; daughter, Kathy (Thom); grandchildren, Isabella, Audrey and Jakob; great-grandchild Auska; his brother, Paul; and former wife, Ann Clarke. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Winnifred; daughter, Elizabeth; and granddaughter, Valerie. He was a graduate of The University of Western Ontario in Math and Physics. He was a Flying Officer in The Royal Canadian Air Force, from 1954-1956. He returned to The University of Western Ontario to receive his Masters and continued on to Madison, Wisconsin to complete his PhD. Doug was a Professor Emeritus, Department of Mathematics at The University of Toronto, from 1961-1995. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Private family service will be held.
