There are no words that can help your pain and sorrow at this time. But I also know it has been very difficult time watching him over the last few weeks. I don't want to dwell on this difficult period but to recall a different time in our lives when Dick (always Mr. O'Brien to me) spent his nights waitng to pick Elizabeth and I up from a dance. He always seemed to arrive alittle early to ensure there were no late night embraces from our love interest of the evening. God help us if we were late (which we always were). Now that I am the parent waiting to pick up, I appreciate that he was always willing to come and pick us up and rarely got really angry at our antics. I also fondly recall sitting in the kitchen in the morning listening to the CBC having coffee and chatting with Dick and Marna as Elizabeth slept soundly until noon. I am still an avid CBC radiophile and often think of those mornings. There are memories of his jokes and kidding about boyfriends and then the time that Dave helped Dick build a dog run for Angie. Maybe that is the reason our own dog does not have one now. I so much want to be there to share your sorrow and hear the stories but I don't think I will be able to attend. My mother has her first chemo treatment Thursday to treat breast cancer which was discovered before Christmas and even though she said you should go and be with Elizabeth I think she needs me to be with her. My love, hugs and fond wishes to Marna , Elizabeth and Lynn. I hope to be able see you soon. Love Heather, Dave, Matthew Meaghan and Kate

Dear Marna, I am thinking of you at this time, I just found out from the newspaper about Dick, please know you are in my prayers, as over the years I have often remembered those friends of Bill's who meant so much to him, Dick was one of the best. God bless you and the family. Sincerely, Marilyn
