Dearest Steele Family, I was away last week with my brothers and friends and there was not one day that passed that I did not think about all of you. When I returned home I was so heartbroken to learn about Louise, a most beautiful person. Roger, your smile always makes everyone around you happy, and I know Louise is smiling at you. Sincerely, Danny

Our deep sympathy in this time of terrible loss and sadness at Louise's passing. Richard worked with Louise for many years in the Ontario government and we both worked with her on an interesting consulting project after our respective 'retirements.' Richard enjoyed seeing Louise over the years at our Former OPS Executives lunches and she always enlivened the group with her humour and grace. Our thoughts are with the family and with Louise's many dear friends in this difficult time. Richard and Gabriele Lundeen

Dear Roger and Family, I was deeply saddened to hear that Louise passed away. There is obviously no good time or way for someone whom you care about to die. I can only imagine how hard this must be for you. My thoughts and heart are with you and your loved ones during this difficult time. I recall our chats when, smiling with such pride, you lovingly talked about Louise, her consulting work, and especially, how great a cook she was… the amazing chili she made for the Super Bowl game. She loved the cottage you said, and traveling. I know how much you will miss Louise. But I also know that your loving family and friends, and your immense strength will constantly be there to support you. Dear Roger, always keep in mind that "Those who live in the heart of others never die". Vittoria

This is to express condolences to the family of Louise Steele from myself and others who worked in Fiscal Strategies Branch of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care where Louise Steele was Director in the late 1980's. Louise was committed to public service and was held in high regard by her peers and her staff. Fiscal Strategies was the "corporate budget office" in the ministry with the largest budget by far in the Ontario government. The responsibility was huge, and the stress was high. Fortunately Louise had a head for numbers, was organised, and seemed able to manage the stress with quiet dignity and poise. After she retired from the OPS she did some consulting but slipped from view in the last couple of years. It was only very recently that I heard that she was ill. Her passing is a shock for all. I write a few words here since I am unable to attend the service tomorrow. Again my condolences to the family in your loss. Geoff Kettel

To the Family of Louise: I have been living in Edmonton for the last 35 years, however, I was one of 3 roommates Louise had in Grade 13 at Havergal College. Louise came as a "new girl" in Grade 13, which for most, would have been a difficult transition - in the last year of highschool. Louise fit in quickly, easily and was very popular. I loved her sense of humour, her laugh and her grace, and wish I had known her longer. I am sorry to have lost contact with her these past years, and want you to know that she was a treasured friend. I am saddened to learn of Louise's passing. When I worked for Financial Management Services at the Ministry of Health, she was our Director. I saw her a few times after she retired; but of course I did not know she had become ill. I lost my mother in November, so I can sympathize with you. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family. I wish strength and peace for you all.
