Howard was my uncle (I’m the daughter of his late sister Pinky and his childhood friend Doug Steven). Although many years have passed since I’ve seen Howard, I still remember his great sense of humor and what a lovely man he was. My grandmother (Jane Sedgwick) once told me how my dad and Howard started taking watches apart when they were only eight years old. Afraid of getting in trouble when they were unable to put a watch back together again, they hid all of the pieces on top of a door frame—quite a clever hiding spot! I wouldn’t be surprised if they were enjoying a bit of mischief in heaven this very day. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss, Mary (Bonnie) Shay Santa Cruz, California

I (Victor) have always felt a special warmth for Howard and his family, going back many years. Howard always made me feel welcome and put a smile on my face. We regret that we are not able to attend the funeral. We are now out of town, spending time in hospital with Linda's uncle who is very ill. Our sincere condolences to Tom, Cecilia and the rest of the family. Victor and Linda Genova

It was a pleasure and honour to get to know your Dad over the last few years. Howie certainly made a impression at Sunnybrook and we all enjoyed his stories and "zest for life". He will definitely be missed by staff and Veterans. Please accept my consolences over the loss of such a dear man.

Dear Tom and Cecilia, With the passing of Howard he is probably the last of our parents generation. That leaves me I am told as the oldest of the next generation. If I live to your dad's age, another 27 years to age 97, that would remarkable. I remember back in the 40's your family lived up Royal York Road which did not continue to Dixon Road. My parents on occasion would visit your dad there since he repaired watches. Of course memories over the years of family gatherings with Bongiornos, Guilettis, Sedgewicks and others are the stuff life is made up of. As you are painfully aware we both had sisters who died to young. Your dad had a great long life. I will fondly remember him.

We would like to express our sincere condolences. Uncle Tom, I still remember as if it was yesterday the day he pick me up from shcool as I felt sick. He said calmly, "don't worry Ruthy, your Momm is especting you home." I still remember when I used to visit "Don" Howard and Mother Lucy in summer time with my bike, they always made me feel welcome in their home. May his memories continue to live.
