Obituary of Edith Carruthers

CARRUTHERS, Edith (Ewen, nee Hughes) Passed from this world in her 97th year, on Saturday, July 13, 2013 with her family by her side. She will be greatly missed by her loving children Kathy Davis (Bill), Marilyn Bernardo, Brian Ewen (Mairi) and Gail Weatherall, step-daughter Evelyn Coleman (Jim), and step-son Melvin; grandchildren Erin, Jeff, Carrie, Carol, Angela, Anthony, Derek, Carman, Stephanie, Catherine and Laura; and by her seven great-grandchildren. Edith was predeceased by her parents George and Annie Hughes, brother Bob, husbands Lawrence Ewen and Les Carruthers, by sons-in-law Jim Davis and Art Bernardo, and by step-daughter Susan. Edith was a tiny lady with a big heart, and was a warm and caring person right up till the end - always thinking of other people before herself. She had a wonderful smile that lit up any room and could see good in everyone. Our family would like to thank each and every staff member on 2W and in the Life Enrichment Program at Wellesley Central Place, where she lived the past few years, for their exceptional care and attention, especially in her final days. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16.
