Obituary of Helen Mitchell

MITCHELL, Helen Helen Cecile Mitchell (nee Murray) passed away on Sunday, June 30th, 2013, in her 89th year, after a brief illness. Predeceased by her husband, John, and her son, John Mike, Helen was the daughter of the late Frederick Murray and Emily Woods, and a lifelong Toronto resident. "Chicken" as she was lovingly dubbed by her dear departed Johnny, grew up in the west end and graduated from St. Joseph's High School before marrying Johnny and embarking upon the daunting challenge of raising their six kids. Active, interested, independent, feisty, fun loving and elegant to the end, she will be missed by her five surviving children, Brian (Maria), Jane (Paul), David (Shelagh), Susan (Fraser) and Peter (Katya), fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her friends at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club and The Donway Place, the ladies at Jolly Jumps and anyone who ever joined her for an afternoon sherry (or two). Chick, Chick you torture me. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the FRANCISCAN CHURCH OF ST.
