Obituary of Mary Godfrey

GODFREY, Mary Burwell Ferguson Died peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in her 99th year. Treasured wife of the late John M. Godfrey. Devoted, proud and deeply loved mother of John Godfrey (Trish Bongard); Sally Forrest (Nick); Anne Godfrey; and the late Stephen Godfrey (Susan Harrington). Adored and hands-on grandmother of Ian Godfrey, David and Tessa Forrest, Harry Godfrey, and Robert and Kathleen Godfrey, all of whom affectionately called their grandparents "Mary and Jack." Also predeceased by her brother Donald Ferguson (Barbara). Energetic entertainer, compassionate to the needs of her world-wide circle of friends and family; mentor to young men and women - especially Toronto newcomers - she paid it forward throughout her long life and justly received many rewards of kindness and friendship, especially in her final years. Special, heartfelt thanks to our devoted friend Minette Von Bieberstein; long-time caregivers Emy Macaranas and Laarni Damasco and their families; Dr. Bob Hyland and the staff at St. Michael's Hospital. Funeral service will be held in CHRIST CHURCH DEER PARK, 1570 Yonge Street, on Monday, June 17 at 3:30 p.m. Reception to follow.
