Obituary of Dorothy Bray
BRAY, Dorothy Joan (nee Weatherup) December 8, 1930 - June 2, 2013
Dorothy passed away, peacefully at home with her family, on Sunday, June 2nd. She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband Howard (Bud), her loving and caring daughter Jennifer, and devoted son-in-law Craig Pattinson. She leaves her sister Ruth Fraser, brother Robert Weatherup, sister-in-law Audrey Weatherup, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents William and Estelle Weatherup, and her brothers Cameron, John and William Jr.
Dorothy was a dynamic business woman who loved the advertising and marketing businesses. She was one of Canada's first lady advertising account executives and directed several national accounts at Heggie Advertising Co. Ltd., After she married Bud she left the agency business and formed Canadian Ad-Check Services, Canada's first dealer advertising auditing company where she counted many national marketers as clients.
A vivacious and fun loving individual, in her private life Dorothy had many interests. She loved her garden, floral arranging, interior decorating, oil painting, ceramics, cooking and consignment shopping. Her advice was constantly sought after by her many friends and family members.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Debbie Elman for her outstanding care these past 10 years, and to Dr. Anne Pyper, Nurse Yangmei (Vicky) Chen, and Personal Support Workers Manuel Chan, Teresa Serrana and Criselda Morante for the exceptional care and comfort they provided to Dorothy these past two months.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6. A Celebration of Life service will be held in PARKWOODS UNITED CHURCH, 85 Parkwoods Village Drive, Don Mills on Friday, June 7th at 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
At the family's request, donations are welcome to The Family Practice Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, care of Dr. Debbie Elman; The Freeman Centre for Palliative Care at North York General Hospital; or the charity of your choice.
