It is with profound sadness that the family of Demosthenes (Denny) Maniates, B.Arch., M.O.A.A., M.A.A.A. announces his untimely passing. Denny entered into eternal rest and ended his courageous battle with cancer peacefully and gracefully on the morning of Saturday, June 1, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones. Denny was the beloved husband of Mary. Devoted father of Euripides and Natalie (Cameron) Montgomery. Denny was a proud grandfather to Sonya and Nina Maniates. Brother of Julia (John) Reibetanz, cherished son-in-law to Velika Draginov (the late Dimitrie), brother-in-law to Louie (Jenny Lederer) Draginov, George Draginov and the late Trajan Draginov. Denny was the cherished uncle to his goddaughter Stephanie Moreau and godson Arman Draginov, and will be missed by his nephews Timothy, David, Kyle and James. Son of the late Euripides and Sophia Maniates. He is also predeceased by his sister Rika Maniates. A distinguished graduate of the University of Toronto's Faculty of Architecture, Denny's passions were building design, art, music, and most of all his grandchildren. His memory lives on in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the dedicated team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for their gentle and loving palliative care. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 5th, 2013. The funeral service will be held in ALL SAINTS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 222 Burbank Drive, Toronto on Thursday June 6th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
