Obituary of Tom Shea
TOM SHEA
(1931-2013)
Died peacefully surrounded by family. He was the devoted husband of Catharine and loving father of their daughters Courtney (John), Cynthia (Chris) and Hilary (Ciaran). He is survived by his daughter Cate (Dave) and son Ted and their children Justin, Camille, Elle and Simone Coté and Sarah Shea. Tom was fortunate to have his brother and sister-in-law Bob and Marg and his sister-in-law Frieda. He was predeceased by his son Tim and brother Ted.
Tom was the founder of Shea Real Estate and of Family Trust. He loved to interact with new people and was a born salesman, an innovative marketer and a dynamic leader in the industry. He worked with a loyal staff and derived great satisfaction from a career he was truly passionate about.
To his family and friends and occasionally to complete strangers, Tom was the perpetual jokester and kept those who loved him laughing into his final days. He loved to travel, and had a particular fondness for his adventures in Western Europe and especially the magical hills of Austria and Switzerland. At the cottage he loved to build fires with his beloved hound Trevi by his side. When driving, he could often be heard from miles away thanks to Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra blaring from his speakers. Tom took great joy in life's big moments and even more in the small ones.
We would like to acknowledge the vital and often unsung role that caregivers play in our society. For Tom and our family the staff at CCAC, Saint Christopher's House and Belmont House were an invaluable source of support. A very special thank you to Cristy Aquino who contributed so much to the quality of Tom's final years. There will be a private family service followed by a public reception at The Granite Club Regency Ballroom at 6 pm, Thursday May 16th. (2350 Bayview Ave.) Please join us to toast a life well lived.
