I first met Margaret and Tom nearly 30yrs ago when I was walking my first baby along Sutherland Drive. We stopped to talk and that turned into stopping to talk and pass the time of day every time we walked by.
They were a wonderful couple and I have some lovely memories of them both.

Margaret's husband Tom Monahan grew up near Loughrea prior to settling in Toronto. I come from Loughrea & his sister Winnie practically adopted all us Mannings & spoiled us as kids in Leahy's Shop where she worked.
Margaret & Tom had a great welcome for me. a chat, a welcome meal & a cup of tea off & on over the years, whenever I dropped in with the Irish newspapers.
Margaret was so good to direct me to the supply teaching division of the Toronto Catholic School Board on Laird Drive. That job kept food on the table & helped me to return to school, so I was always grateful to Margaret for being such a wonderful person. She & Tom made a wonderful couple, full of joy & optimism.
When Tom left us, I lost touch with Margaret much to my regret. Beannacht De ar do ainm Dhilis Margaret. You are a treasure and sorely missed by all of us. Thank God that I knew you & you were a gem to Tom during his ongoing health difficulties. Godbless! Lou

When I moved into my home directly across from the Monahan residence in 1972, Margaret and Tom were quick to welcome me to the neighbourhood. We remained friends through our many shared years on Sutherland Drive. I still live in the same place and when I look across I see the Monahan residence regardless of the current owners.
