Obituary of Irene Grant

GRANT, Irene Margaret (nee MacKenzie) Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 86. Beloved mother of Joyce MacFarlane (Rob) and Paul Grant (Patty). Treasured Nana of Erin, Grant, Ryan and Craig. Sadly missed by her long time devoted companion Frank Boyd. Vivacious and energetic, Irene lit up a room with her warmth and sense of humour. After a successful career as an executive secretary, Irene devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. She got so much joy from the close relationships she built with her children and grandchildren. A creative and intelligent woman, she had a lifelong love of learning. As a jazz aficionado, Irene always had music playing in her home. She was an avid traveler and reader, maintaining a youthful curiosity throughout her life. Irene grew up in Leaside and returned to her roots four years ago to be close to her family. We are deeply saddened to lose her and will treasure the memories we shared. A service to celebrate Irene's life will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.
