Obituary of Tony Fisher

Anthony (Tony) Fisher M. Photographer, FPPO MPA IIP HLM June 20, 1947 - February 15, 2013 Tony died peacefully at home, as he wished, with his wife, Libbie at his side. He had lived with cancer for five years. The last month saw a change in Tony's health. Tony was the loving and loved husband of Libbie for 43 years. He loved his sister, Linda and his brother, Terry (deceased) his niece and nephew, his cousins in England and Spain and his Scottish family. He was a much loved man. Tony left Birmingham, England in 1967 with his photographic folio and worked in a studio for several years. He started his own photographic business in 1969, 30 years later he had successfully owned and operated two commercial photographic studios, PAU and East End Studios. He also encouraged many young photographers, inspiring them with his passion for photography. Tony's considerable talents were recognized by his peers in the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC). Tony was a Master of Photography in the United States. He won many awards for his work and in 1978, he was named Canadian Photographer of the Year and Ontario Photographer of the Year. In 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Life Member, by the Professional Photographers of Canada for outstanding contribution to professional photography and the association. Tony loved life which was composed of his time with his wife, his art, his profession and his friends. He will be sorely missed by his wife and family and his many friends in Canada, and the U.S. and the U.K. Words cannot express the love and care shown to Tony by neighbours and friends. They did not know how to stop giving. THANK YOU. A heartfelt thanks to Doctor Florence Wong and Doctor Alice Newman and the compassionate nurses who worked for Tony's care and comfort. Thanks to the Temmy Latner team and the CCAC professionals who made Tony's few final days bearable for Tony and Libbie. Tony was cremated in a private ceremony as was his wish, with his immediate family present. A celebration of his wonderful life will be planned for the spring.
