Obituary of Robert Kenny

KENNY, Robert James (Bob), raised in Hamilton November 2, 1920 - February 13, 2013 Peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by his loving wife Muriel, sisters Margaret and Patricia, and daughter Carolyn. Dear father of Maureen (Jim McDonald), Bill (Mary), Alison (Mark Gardhouse), Sarah (Eric Therrien), and Carolyn. Loved and missed by his grandchildren Calvin, Michael (Fabia), David (Jacinda), Laura (Brian), Emma, Mélinda Sophie, Tania, Jesse, Gillian and Jamie, as well as nine great-grandchildren. In 1941 he enlisted in Windsor and joined the 19th Field Regiment from the Wingham/Lucknow area. His first day of combat was D-Day, supporting the New Brunswick regiment on Juno Beach, France. His regiment then moved on to Belgium, Holland and finally Germany. After the war, he married, started a family and returned to school. He graduated from U of T as a metallurgical engineer. He went into banking and managed branches of the Business Development Bank of Canada in Hamilton, Thunder Bay, and St. Catharines. Sailing and music were always things that he enjoyed, and with Muriel's love of music, the two of them shared a gift which they passed on to their children. Even on the day he died he was heard humming a tune. A special thanks to an amazing team of caregivers Rose Flores, Erlyn Entisse, Nora Ebreo, Maribelle Apostol, Agnes Paloma, Angelyn Relieve, and Lani Bolivar. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18.
