Obituary of Helen Panos
Passed away peacefully after a long illness in Toronto on a warm January afternoon with her children at her side. Helen was a loving and generous mother who always wanted the best for her three children, Ellen Jane, George and Frank. Mother-in-law to Kathleen and Tracy and grandmother to Alexandra and Frankie. Predeceased by her husband George P. Panos. Daughter of the late Frank and Matilda Bazos. Sister to Robert Bazos, Constance Pottow and the late James Bazos. Thank you to everyone who cared for Mom, especially her friend Cheryl.
A graduate from Bishop Strachan School and the University of Toronto, School of Nursing. Mom worked at the Toronto General Hospital after graduation. She spent the next few years travelling the world with her mother. One of Mom's great loves was travelling, especially spending time in London, England. In the early sixties Mom met the love of her life George, from Montreal who would turn out to be her husband after a lengthy courtship. From Montreal they decided to move to Toronto. She was a terrific wife and a wonderful mother who always wanted the best for her family. Mom was determined to provide everything possible for her family's success and happiness. Helen was active in the Anglican Church and had an incredible business savvy and passion for the Stock Market. She enjoyed teaching her children tennis and skiing. Summers were filled with Ocean breezes on Cape Cod, while winters were spent on the snowy slopes of St. Sauveur in Quebec. Mom was the backbone of the family always making the correct decisions when necessary. In fact, her actions earned her the title "Colonel" within the family. "Mom we love you always and we will miss you dearly".
