To my Brother: ARAVINDKUMAR
BIRTH: 19/10/1982
DEATH:08/04/2006
Words are hard to describe feelings,
I have always been better with images.
Yet writing down how much I miss you,
Seems to give me more tranquility.
Writing to let go, to give this all a place.
It will never heal, it will never go away,
But just learning to give it time and space.
I can tell you how much I care, how much I would give to have you back in my life,
But you know all of this and it won't change anything, that's what I am learning within time,
Writing to tell you how much I have learned, to show you that through fragility I become a stronger person
More able to understand, more able to listen and to care,
Hurt through loss, I've become yet a wiser person.

Tributes.com Light a Candle Program
In today's world, we are sometimes thousands of miles removed from the funerals and memorial services of the people who were important in our lives.
Participation is the most effective antidote to the isolation that often accompanies grief.
We can think of no better way to enhance your participation than to encourage you to involve yourself in the Tributes.com Light a Candle Program.
In addition to lighting a candle, you can contribute a story, a picture, a video, or anything else that helps create an accurate memory reflection of the person who died and of your relationship with them. Your shared memories will help you and others, and stand as a permanent emotional marker to the person you knew who is heaven
The act of lighting a candle in honor of those who have passed is a centuries old tradition that allows us to express what we cannot communicate with words. By lighting a candle for our loved ones we remember and honor their life and their memory. A single candle is a symbol of the human spirit, and brings darkness into light.
You may return at any time to view the candle you lit, view candles left by others, and read words of condolence for those we have lost.

Hey Dad,
Hows it going? How was Thanksgiving, who came up and where did you guys have it? Mom, Nana and I visited some of the Conachers. I tried hard to make a good impression because a lot of them are in the investment industry and I bet they`ll be able to help me get a job or at least introduce me to some people when I graduate. Sean Conacher (Brians son) suggested we have lunch some time during the summer. I also went to a career fair at Western a few weeks ago so I met a few people and got some business cards while I was there. I also signed up for a few group sessions but no one has gotten back to me.
I`m doing really well in that business strategy game I was telling you about. There are 12 teams and every week each team has to make a decision by Wednesday at 6pm. It`s all done online so it all gets fed through a computer and the results come back around 6:30 pm. Each week represents 1 year of game play and so far the game has been going for 3 years (it will run for 10 years by the end). After the first year we were in 2nd, by the second year we were tied for 1st and the results for the third year just came back and we`re now in 1st by a fairly wide margin. I`m pretty excited about it, I spend more time on this project than any other by far, its really cool, its extremely detailed and you can see all sorts of different financial and operating reports for all the companies. It`s extremely strategic, right up my alley. I have lots of practice from risk and all those board games we used to play at the cottage. I`ve really taken a leadership position in the group, I accept other peoples input but if I don`t like their ideas I pretty much make sure we don`t follow them. At the end of the day, I`m helping everyone get a good mark and potentially win a cash prize so they can't be too mad at me. There`s one other group that`s catching up to us fast, we we`ll have to watch out for them. I don`t really know any jobs that are directly based on this kind of strategic thinking but if you can think of any let me know. I think I would really thrive and excel in this kind of environment.
Besides that, I just sort of realized that I have 3 exams coming up this week, they`re not worth much (15%, 15% and 25%) and they`re all just half courses (so each course only makes up 1/10th of my grade for this year) but even still it caught me by surprise and I've been studying pretty hard. I might have to pull a few all nighters.
Anyways let me know how things are going.
(email two)
Things have been good. I've been really busy with exams and essays. My last
essay is due this Monday and then I get a break until finals. I had a debate for my political science course. We were arguing that the decline of the federal Liberal party is bad for Canada. I was the cross examiner and I
killed it. All my teammate said I did a good job and then after class a few people approached me and told me I did well. I was pretty proud of it, I was nervous going into it and I wasn't sure how it would go.
In our biz strat game we have really run away with it, in terms our score we
have a 20 percent margin over the next best team, which is the biggest
difference between two teams one ranking apart. However last year our market
share, eps, revenue... fell for the first time yet. It was a pretty bad
year, for the first time in awhile we didn't have the highest net profit.
So we're gonna have a big team meeting next week to rethink our strategy and
figure out how to maintain our competitive advantage.
(email three) Hey,
Its official, we won the business strategy game. We were also one of the top
100 teams in North America (there were around 3300). We were 12th best for
Earning Per Share and 29th best for Return on Investment. We were in first
the whole time except for the second last week; so our last couple of
meetings were pretty intense. It was good that it came down to the wire at
the end because it made us realize our mistakes and what we could have done
better. I'm really happy with the result. We each got $75, our name on a
plaque and it goes on our transcript as an award.

Connor was my good friend and roommate for the past few years at western. I can honestly say he was one of the happiest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Connor, I know you always called me the wordsmith, but I've never been more lost for words than I am without you here. Nothing I could possibly say could do you justice, or honor the son, brother, grandson, relative, friend, and roommate who was taken from us way before his time.
Instead of looking at stand out moments in the time I knew Connor, I've been trying to think of most recent memories of him, to leave me with the feeling of some kind of last goodbye.
At first glance all of my recent memories seem mundane, as pressure from school overwhelmed most of the time we spent together in the past couple of weeks due to exams. But when I take deeper look at even the most routine and minimal of things, I can see Connor for the gem he truly was.
Just a few days ago when Scott, Connor, and I were cleaning the upstairs of our house-for the first time in a while-I had a stupid idea that even I couldn't really justify. For some reason I really wanted to remove the door off the top of our staircase, for such a meaningless reason I cant remember exactly why.
Most people would have just said it's a waste of time, questioned what it was going to achieve and left me hanging. But Connor wasn't a regular guy. Instead of shutting me down, he looked at what the task meant to me rather than what the task was, and decided to go along with it, and even promote it as a good idea to my other roommates.
Looking back he must have known what a waste of time it was. But because he saw I cared, he went digging for tools, came back to the door, and started going at it with me. It wasn't until I decided that it was too difficult that he stopped. He made it seem like it truly meant something to him; even though it was only through me he cared.
This seemingly meaningless task illustrates the true nature of Connor Woods. Seeing what mattered to others and making them matter to him was something unique to Connor, strengthening his character beyond the smile.
The spirit of the Connor I knew and loved will be carried with me throughout my days.
Connor, I can only hope to take away some of the things that made you so special, and find a place to adopt them into my life as a way of self-improvement. Although you are away physically, your character will always remain in my heart and in the heart of those who treasured you. I miss you already buddy.

it is with great sadness that i post this notice. i remember connor from our days on crystal lake. he was just a young man then, but already it was obvious what a fine person he would become. he spent hours on the lake boating, tubing, swimming and playing. he seemed equally happy during either the warmth of summer or on the coldest days of winter. he always had so much energy and interest in everything that he did. polite, bright and good humoured he filled the room with joy and happiness whenever he entered. we now a have a son of our own, the age that connor was then, and we cannot even begin to imagine what caroline, john, jennifer and blythe must feel. we are hoping and praying that time will help everyone recover from this tragic loss. we were just on our way out to pay our respects when our neighbourhood got hit by freezing rain. it is with great regret that we cannot attend. please acccept our regards. we hope that everyone will be strong enough to overcome this tragic loss having been filled with so many wonderful memories that they too will be able to carry on. with our love james, cindy and adam
