Dad, I still cannot believe you are no longer with us. I am surrounded by photos of you that bring a smile to my face at every glance. It's hard to explain life without you -- it seems as if you're just on an extended trip abroad. We all miss you very much, but you left an incredible legacy. There are still many difficult occasions ahead, but again, the power of a photo (that can transform into a live recollection of your presence) helps me to stay positive every day.

Dear Jeannie and family. I was browsing through the obituaries to find Isabel Woodward who I worked with for many years in North York and I suddenly came upon Silvio's death notice. I am reminded of so many years ago and our growing up with Jack Dow at NTCI. You all will have so many wonderful memories of Silvio as do I and although he is gone now, he will live in our hearts and be cherished for ever. I am sending this to you from Manzanillo, Mexico where I come every year to spend 3-4 winter months. My deepest sympathy and condolences to you all.

It was an honour to have known Sil, an excellent and warm person, a dedicated teaching professional, and a truly nice man. He was also a fine musician and lover of music and his support in helping build the music program in Etobicoke should always be remembered. Sincerest condolences to Jeannie and to all of the family.

My father died in December, 1987. That month, I opened a card of condolence from Syl. His words were so kind, and comforting. Later and over time, on sad occasions when friends have passed on I remember Syl's last phrase, and I think of him and what his support meant to me. "Please count me among your many friends who share your sorrow." Syl was a fine man, and I share your sorrow.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Fond memories of Jill Cres and all of you. He was a great guy and loved by all. He was always there to lend a helping hand or to laugh at all the silly stupid things we did. I know he has a special place in my heart. The last time we were together was in your dining room , laughing about all the capers we pulled at school, after a Martingrove C.I. Reunion. Of course at your place ,mom and dad were always sitting with us, adding their recollections!!!!! My dad passed away 2 years ago this week, so I understand the emptiness you're feeling. Just know we will all miss him and remember so many good times. He was a loving husband and father. Love to you all at this sad time. Gail Southey xox
