Obituary of Helen Lawson
MARGARET LAWSON
In great sadness the family of Helen Margaret Lawson mark her passing Sunday, November 25, 2012 with grateful hearts for the blessings of many wonderful years. Born in Toronto on Christmas Eve 1922 Margaret worked in the office of Sainthill Levine during World War II and met her sweetheart Bill Lawson at Young People's at St. Paul's Avenue Road. Both continued to be active in the United Church as Bill's work with CNIB moved the family around Ontario. Margaret held various positions in the local, provincial and at the national levels of the United Church when she chaired the Division of Mission in Canada between 1979 and 1983. She had a special interest in social justice and progressive theology. Left to recall her wit and wisdom are her husband of 69 years, William K Lawson, her children Bill Lawson Jr. of Burlington, Peter and Maureen Lawson of Toronto, Wendy Lawson and Frank Chennells of Dundas, Steve and Vickie Lawson of Warkworth, NZ, grandchildren Katie Lawson and Derek Moran, Daniel Lawson, Sarah Lawson and Jagger Smith, Anna Lawson and Louis Chora, Lizzie Lawson, Laura Kenyon, Philip Lawson, Charlotte Lawson, Genevieve Lawson, Naomi Chennells and Eric Chennells, and treasured great-grandchildren Samuel, Liam and Sadie. Predeceased by her grandson Chris Kenyon in 2007. A memorial of Margaret's life will take place on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 in THE DONWAY COVENANT CHURCH, 230 The Donway West.
