Dear Mr. And Mrs. Craig, I am thinking of James on this cold but sunny day with the 1 year anniversary of his passing around the corner. I chuckle to myself when I look at his photo thinking "how could James Craig look this old (!)" and I realize that he would see me as a 44 year old now too;-) I guess in my mind, I still picture James as the sunny faced little boy that sat with me in class at Bessborough. I enjoyed being around him then and I enjoyed the beautiful service that you had for him last year! It was nice for me to have the connection once again. Wishing you all my best at this difficult time and wanted you to know that James may be gone but he is certainly not forgotten. Linda Paterson Bier

"Big James Open-Arms"
I wish to forward my heartfelt thoughts to James mother, father and family.
I have and will continue to miss little James.
For a period of my life I helped a very talented team care for James. Working with James could be a very difficult challenge, James required a great deal of attention, "but don't we all deserve this"?
I'm a guy who loves to play and watch sports. To be a champion in sports takes the very best of an athletes abilities and teamwork. As a team or individuals James needed those around him to be in top form to win his game each and every day. Those of us who got to know James his last couple years earned his trust. James was a loving and quiet son who watched the clock each day awaiting his next visitor and cherished his mother and fathers visits the most. Many days you could see him playing board games with them or just cruising around the halls with his mother. James had a very difficult time moving his disease affected body but when he was with his mother his shoulders drew back, his chest puffed out, his chin held high and a small smile worked its way to his often somber face. James had a twinkle in his eye as he and his mom would say hello to staff and check the list of his oncoming shift. If you were lucky you would see an extra twinkle in his eye if he trusted you to help tuck him in to bed for the evening. I never had or took the time to read him a bedtime story but I bet he sure would have appreciated it.
James and I. I really hope that my little tribute celebrates him as a person. Just because someone is physically weak or small in stature doesn't mean they hold any less value. The world is filled with big and little, dark and light, young and old, people who stand alone and those who need to hold someones hand. I remember James reading and watching scientific programs. His mind was creative, confident and curious. James introduced me to a Canadian show called Corner Gas . I could tell he enjoyed sharing some laughs or even tiny tiny smiles while I helped him with his dinner. When getting his pillows and sheets just right for bed many evenings we would share a few more laughs listening to "Two and a Half Men". Many may wonder how healthcare workers can do that type of work, but quite often a little smile makes it more than rewarding.
James awaits looking through his doorway into the hall, I can still see him looking. I'd like to hope his time with us got him ready for something new. A new place surrounded by others , love, and peace. James fought a very tough disease and was blessed with loving parents. James was childish in many ways but I feel that he is somewhere new right now in his chair looking into the hallway. He is looking and when he see's you whoever you are; you will see that twinkle in his eyes. When you walk into say hello he will draw his shoulders back, puff his chest out, hold his chin high with a great big smile. When you walk towards him he will stand up, throw his chair back and give you a great big hug!
No more panic, just peace and the hope of something bigger and better.
Love to James and Family

Dear Mom & Dad....James was a loving and gentle soul and we were privileged to have him in our lives... although, for too short a time. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
