Obituary of John Mazzacano

John Michael Mazzacano Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Dorothy Macham Home, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for Veterans, in his 90th year. John was the rock-solid husband of his life-long love and compassionate, interminable care-giver, Olga. Dear and beloved son of the late Peter and Carmella (nee Facchini) Mazzacano. Loving and devoted father of his children, Theresa, Peter, and Anne Marie, and their partners, Carlo, Maire, and Steve. Lovingly and fondly remembered by his many grandchildren, Anne Marie, Gian Paolo, Laura, Conor, Laoise, Ana, Michael, Patrick, David, and Daniel, as well as great-grandfather to Gus. John will be remembered as a proud Canadian Veteran of WWII. He served in the Canadian Army and in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the War, John became known for his fine athletic talents in the Canadian-Italian Hockey League, as well as on the squash and tennis courts. John also made his mark as a businessman in the food services industry. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3. Funeral Service will be held in OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP, 78 Clifton Road, Toronto (corner of St. Clair Avenue East, west of Mount Pleasant Road) on Tuesday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family is so very grateful to Dr. J. Charles and her compassionate staff at the Dorothy Macham Home, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
