To the McMeekin Family: I was very sorry to read in the Star on Tuesday about Joyce's passing. I remember Joyce very fondly. I worked at the Prison Arts Foundation in Brantford in the late 70's and early 80's. Joyce was a member of our Board of Directors and I came to know her and respect her kindness and wisdom. She became a good friend of our Executive Director, Marnie Knechtel, who was also a dear friend of mine. Sadly, we lost Marnie far too soon in 1998. I traveled with Joyce to a number of board meetings in places like Kingston and Belleville. I also remember accompanying Joyce on a trip to purchase a new dining room suite for her Toronto home. She believed in making a difference and through her work at Xerox, ensured the corporate Canada gave back to their communities. She holds a dear place in my heart and my deepest sympathies with all of you at this very sad time.
