Marguerite Labbé-Gravelle It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marguerite Labbé-Gravelle on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Margot, as she was affectionately known, passed away at her home in Toronto, surrounded by her loved ones after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband and partner of 44 years, Pierre Gravelle, her dear children, Louis-Pierre (Carine Monge), Kristian (Angela Brown), Chloé (Mark Shanahan) and her beloved grandchildren Alexandre, Brigitte, Xavier, Luc and Sophie. Predeceased by her brother Marc, she leaves behind her sisters Lucille Simard and Suzanne Labbé, her brother Paul (Grace Cameron) and numerous nephews and nieces. Born in Buckingham, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Gorman-Labbé and Judge Arthur Labbé. A graduate of "Rideau Street Convent", she obtained her nursing degree from the University of Ottawa. She subsequently embraced the nursing profession with passion and dedication culminating in 18 years in nursing oncology at the Cancer Clinic of the General Hospital of Ottawa. Margot will be remembered for her grace, generosity and compassion. Her humanity and spirituality, her courage and determination, her "joie de vivre" were the foundation of her incredible strength. She has touched profoundly all those who knew her. A funeral mass will be held in OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP CHURCH, 78 Clifton Road (corner of St. Clair Avenue and Clifton Road), in Toronto on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Jean-Louis Plouffe. A second funeral mass will be celebrated in NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL BASILICA, 385 Sussex Drive, Ottawa on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at twelve noon. A private burial ceremony will follow at Beechwood Cemetary in Ottawa. There will be no visitation. The family will receive condolences at the church one half hour prior to each service.
