Life's been busy this year, I finally started working a job that is a field that I painfully paved a road for. Art, a field that is so difficult to justify in the world of practicality we live in. Today I began to think about the people that urged me on in my craft. My parents and close friends are evidently ever present in my thoughts, but today I thought of a charming and brilliant Englishman who I knew during my years working at the Sears Catalogue desk at the Eaton Centre. And this man as it may be evident, was Ronald Dawkins. From the instant i met Ronald, I was drawn to his bright eyes, so full of life and adventure, the kind of lust for life most of us wish we had. We spoke of the east, cultures and people, art and dance, and before my life-changing trip to Florence, he gave me a recommendation for a restaurant in London that specialized in game birds. But more significant than the subjects of which we spoke(and let me clarify that they were indeed significant) was the aura that I experienced from this dashing elderly gentleman. I could clearly tell that this was a man who had been able to win the heart of an undoubtedly stunning lady, and the romance that I still saw between them was something a young man in his 20s as I was could have envied. Maybe it was the dancing that made Pat and Ronald beam with the bliss that they projected, maybe it was something more, but regardless, when I searched his name online today and saw that he had passed, I felt saddened immediately for the great man the world lost, but mostly for Pat. Pat I'm not sure if you remember me, I was the Persian man with the beard and long hair (the only man working at that desk for 8 years) but I hope that you are well, and I hope that you have the strength to find delight in this world as Ronald would have wanted. I am truly saddened, but that feeling is eclipsed by the gratitude for having met such a man, and being inspired by him for any amount of time. God Bless you Ronald and God Bless you too Pat. Abbas

Ron was a larger than life character. He always had interesting stories to tell or advice to give. He seemed to know so much about so many things that he could be relied on to help out in any situation.
He was a much loved uncle to our children and became known as "Grandpa Ron" to our grandchildren.
The occasions when we had the pleasure of spending time with Ron in later years were for special family gatherings and we all have fond memories of him during these times. Always impeccably dressed and very proud of his British roots, he never lost his English accent.
Ron never missed an opportunity to take to the dance floor with Keren or Pat to demonstrate their wonderful dancing skills. It was always fabulous to see him and his leading ladies 'strutting their stuff' to a jive or a quickstep with such flair and energy and seeing everyone in the room watch on in amazement and admiration.
Eating out also played an important part in the times we spent together, where Ron always had an anecdote to tell, a nose for a good wine and a comment to the waiters if things weren't just so! (He also loved Sheila's cooking at the "best restaurant in town" when he and Pat came to stay).
Ron will be very sadly missed and although we could not be with you, our thoughts are with you all today and always.
With love and fondest memories from Sheila, Ron, Sue, Helen, Steve and their families.

My deepest condolences to Pat, Keren, Carl and Sadie on the loss a loving husband, father and grandfather. May you give each other comfort during this difficult time. I had the privilege of meeting Ron two times and his energetic spirit and love of life are what I will always remember.

Pat, I am so sorry to learn of your bereavement. Actually, it's a bereavement for all of us, because you and Ron have an enormous "family" of dance lovers who will miss Ron and remember him with the greatest of affection. What an amazing team Ron and Pat were: so gracious, generous and creative. I know when Ron arrived at The World To Come, Ivaan was there to greet him at the gates, and he was probably saying, "Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow." They're probably organizing a dance up there right now. Sincerest condolences to you and the family. Ron, like Ivaan, will never be far away. Lots of love, Eya
