Obituary of Wilma Emory

EMORY, Wilma Hersey (nee Howard) Passed away peacefully after a courageous struggle with lung disease on Monday, July 16th, 2007 at the Palliative Care Unit, Bridgepoint Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Montreal on July 4th, 1920, daughter of the late Wilbert Howard and Olive Howard. For sixty-six magical years she was the beloved wife of James Vernon "Top" Emory, cherished mother of Devon ( Bill ) Baxter, Karen ( James ) Miller, Verne ( Kendall ) Eisnor ), James ( Barbara ) Emory , Arthur Emory, and predeceased by her infant son Howard Emory. She was the proud and loving grandmother of twenty-five (eight by marriage) and great-grandmother of fourteen. She is survived by her sisters Sylvia Smith and Gwenna Howard and her brother Kenneth Howard. While active in church (Anglican) and charitable organizations during her earlier years in Montreal, in her later years in Toronto the principal focus of her life was her husband and family, to whom she was totally devoted. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her. At Wilma's request the funeral will be private.
