Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 5; wife of the late Abraham Souvalian, loving mother of Paul and Mark, devoted twin sister of Tom Demlakian and his partner Victor; beloved aunt to nephews and nieces in Cairo, Sydney, Seattle and L.A.; with many caring cousins in Montreal, Beirut, Dubai, and England; numerous friends and relatives...
Born November 20, 1942 to Shafik and Justine Demlakian in Cairo where she completed her education with a B.A. degree in Literature; married Abraham Souvalian in 1969 and lived in Damascus where Paul and Mark were born before immigrating to Toronto in 1974; she made a successful career of looking after the family affairs; until her passing, Nana's main focus was the welfare of her 2 sons who will always cherish her memory and remember her selfless efforts, her strength, her compassion and endless love of family.
The family extends its gratitude to the North York General Hospital Cancer Care Unit and The Mt. Sinai Centre for Palliative Care and request that donations be directed to these facilities; special thanks to Dr. Iris Gorfinkel for her compassionate care and support throughout.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 12:00-1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10. A service will follow in the Chapel at 1 o'clock. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
