Douglas Reeves Abbey, PEng May 21, 1922 - August 2, 2011 Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, son of Lee Ernest and Christina Scott Abbey. Doug was predeceased by his brothers John, Carl, Don, and sisters Delora and Eleanor. Doug is survived by his beloved wife Audrey (nee McKinnon) and cherished daughters Susan and Patricia (Thomas Bertoia). Proud grandfather of James, Charles, Henry, Emma, and Annabel. Dear brother of Robert of Penticton. Doug graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in Chemical Engineering in 1945 and did post graduate work at McGill University. He was a raconteur and enjoyed telling stories about his work as a student on the Canadian Pacific Railway and as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers. His career focused on accident prevention and industrial engineering. Doug was known for his kindness and his commitment to others. He would do anything for anybody in need. He was honest to a fault. He had an encyclopedic knowledge on many and varied subjects. Doug's passion in life was his family. The family would like to thank the staff of Thompson House for their exceptional care of Doug during the last two years of his life. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Bonaventure's Church, 1300 Leslie Street on Saturday, August 27, 2011. If desired, memorial donations to St. Francis' Table, 1322 Queen Street West, Toronto M6K 1L4 would be appreciated by the family.
