I would like to offer my condolences and my sincere regret at the recent loss to the family of Katharine Masters. I was most fortunate to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Masters family at Russell Hill Road, Toronto, while I was a member of the choir at Grace Church on the Hill back in the 1950's. Your mother was a great lady in every sense of the word. She was a kind and gracious person to all who had the good fortune to be associated with her. With sincere regards, David L. Thomas for Ian, Philinda and Elizabeth - during one of my hobbies as a photographer I found some colour slides of the following - - a slide of the combined portrait study of the Masters children which hung, I believe, in the dining room - Patricia and Bev Heywood at BSS in their white blazers - Patricia, portrait style, in the garden at Russell Hill Road. If you wish, I will gladly send them to you; let me know an address if you would like the slides. My address is 14 Commanche Drive, Nepean, ON K2E 6E9 and telephone is 613-225-6756.

I had the great honour and pleasure to work with Kay for several years as we were 'partners in crime' in leading the Gallery Interpreter volunteer program at the Royal Ontario Museum. Caring, thoughtful, a true leader and innovator - these are but a few of the many descriptions for this amazing woman. I have missed and will continue to miss her very much. Kay was a stunning example for all of us of a life well-lived. My sincere condolences to the family at this time.

We, in the Gallery Interpreter Program at the ROM had the great privilege of having Kay as one of the trainers for a period of time while we were still a weekend program. Her graciousness, sense of humour and knowledge were the wonderful attributes that she so willingly shared with us. Indeed, she was our "Great Oracle" as we held her in such high esteem. To accompany her on one of her docent tours was was not a formal lecture, but more like a friend explaining all the wonderful objects that the ROM has in its collections. My sincere condolences to the family.

To Kay Masters' family: My time at the Department of Museum Volunteers of the Royal Ontario Museum does not reach far enough into the past for me to know Kay at first hand, but as President I feel as if I knew her through her many friends at the ROM -- a truly wonderful person. On behalf of the DMV I extend to you our gratitude for Kay's life and service, and our best wishes for you during this difficult period.

I was fortunate to be a fellow-volunteer with Kay at the ROM -- she was a wonderful leader and I very much appreciated her wisdom and delightful good humour. One of my many happy memories of working with her is of being part of her "Members' Committee" volunteer board and accordingly one of the many recipients of an imaginary "finraggle" from Kay. Kay's is truly a life to be celebrated. My deeply felt condolences to her family. Frances Money

What a long and lovely life Kay had despite all the tragedies. I met her through Pat whom I always called 'Matsy Pasters" way back in the early 1950's when Matsy and I used to walk to school together and then enroute home would always stop at the lovely Masters home with the sunken garden where Kay gave us tea and cookies, and joined in our fun and games. Kay was a charming, giving, caring, highly intelligent and delightful lady with a mischievous sense of humour. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in their loss. Sincerely, Connie (Kinnear) MacDougall
