Dear Grainne, Claire, Roisin, Aine and Molly, Finola and I would just like to tell you how sorry we were to hear of your Mum's death and to send you our deepest sympathy on your awful loss.We were fortunate to know Bredeen when you and she lived in Ballyweelin. Apart from meeting at many dinner and card parties, we were also members with her of the Sligo musical society when we put on productions of 'The Merry Widow' and 'Viva Mexico' in the early 1980s. I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember a wonderful and graceful solo dance which Bredeen performed in the latter. She was so talented in so many ways as you well know. We will both remember her with great affection as a beautiful lady, kind and generous to all she met.We will have a Mass said here locally in Galway for the repose of her gentle soul and pray that she may rest in peace. Yours most sincerely, Brian and Finola Stewart, 14, Forest Hills, Knocknacarra, Galway

To Grainne, Claire, Roisin, Aine and Molly, You do not know me and I do not know you but I knew your mother briefly when she worked at St. Patrick's in Chatham. I learned of her death in the local newspaper. Your mother counselled my children after the sudden death of their uncle, my brother, in 2002. Although my encounter with her was very brief, she left an impression on me as the type of person I would have liked to have known more personally. She was very kind and gentle. She always smiled warmly. She had a real gift in that. She moved up to Toronto shortly after that, as I recall. Having grown up in the Toronto area and having parents who recently returned to that area, I often thought of her during my visits. I knew that if I had looked her up she would have welcomed me with true Irish hospitality. Nothing can be said to relieve your sadness but I do hope that this in some way helps your memories of her kindness and spirit. God bless you all.

Your mother was a wonderful lady and a good friend. Bredeen and I started paddling with Dragons Abreast together and was an inspiration to be with. Our Irish ties also helped! She will be sadly missed, but will never be forgotten.

To Bredeen's daughters and all family members. I would like to offer you my deepest sympathy on the passing of your dear Mum....it is indeed such a sad and lonely time for all her family. I live near to Ann and Dermot in Dublin and so had the opportunity and good fortune to have met Bredeen over the years. I remeber, in particular, that Ann brought Bredeen to visit me, just after my youngest son was born, all of 25 years ago. We were all in the garden on a lovely sunny day and Bredeen looked beautiful, fresh and smilling and charming. I know, from hearing about your Mum over the years that she was a very special person and a great friend too. I know too that she has five wonderful daughters who have shown such care and love to Bredeen , especially over the last while. Donal (my husband) and I plan to be with you next Saturday in Drogheda, as your dear Mum is layed to rest. We have been keeping you all in our prayers. Kind regards. KatrionaO'Keeffe

To Bredeen's daughters, I am so sorry for your loss. As a fellow Dragons Abreast paddler, I did not know your mother for very long, but in the brief time that I did know her, she made a lasting impression. What a lovely, gentle and warm soul she was. Her smile and the twinkle in her eye when she said that "dragon boating gives us all an opportunity to be 'wild women', in a good way", will remain fondly in my memory. How wonderful that she lived such an experience! May you find strength in each other, and may Bredeen live on through each of you. Karen

I was so sorry to read of Bredeen's death. I worked in the Laboratory in Becton Dickinson both in Drogheda and in Dublin between 1967 and 1972. She was such a nice person. Courteous and patient at all times, she stood head and shoulders above others with her kindness. I regret very much that I will be unable to attend her funeral on Saturday as I will be away. I will be there in spirit. My condolences to her daughters and siblings especially Ann. May she rest in peace.

Sweet memories of Bredeen - a gentle, loving girl. She introduced Peter to Mary in her home in June 1967, just after Fr. Michael's First Mass. It was lovely to meet her last year, so well and happy with her family. May she rest in peace.
