Obituary of Michael Sydney Wallace

Michael Sydney WallaceMarch 21, 1927 " June 12, 2007 Our family is sad to announce that Mike passed away at home on Tuesday, June 12 with Josie by his side. Married to Josephine Dill 53 years ago, Mike led the family from Montreal to Toronto, out to Winnipeg and then finally back to Toronto. Together they raised a great family of four children: Alistair (Corinne Schuster), Sarah (Paul Hambleton), Derek (MaryAnn Lee) and Christopher (Katie Thompson). He will always be remembered as a wonderful grandfather by Teighan, Aiden, Ava, Aman, Catherine, Annie, Lizzy and Michael. So proud of his grandfather and great-grandfather's founding role at Bishop's College School, Mike attended BCS and later achieved his C.A. designation. He worked and made many friends over the years at MacDonald Currie, Urwick Currie, P.S. Ross, Bay Bronze Inc., Wilson Office Specialty, Harrison and Crossfield, and finally, AC Technical, where he happily worked into his seventies. Being Mike meant: countless visits to the hockey rink, trips to the Winnipeg Winter Club, Chairman of the Board at St. John's Ravenscourt, always wishing for a sailboat at his birthday, helping with the L.P.A.A., and getting out on the course for a round of golf. A trip last summer to Tadoussac completed an important circle for Mike, returning to a place so special to him. Mike's love for life, his never ending support, love and encouragement, and his great sense of humour will be with us always. Husband, father, grandfather . . . he will be so missed by all of us. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 14 and 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 15. Service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 in ST. JOHN'S YORK MILLS, 19 Don Ridge Drive, followed by a private family interment. Mike would have been so pleased if you would consider a donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, 610 Unviersity Avenue, Toronto M5G 2M9 or a charity important to you.
