Obituary of George Edwin Bell Blackstock
George died in his sleep on April 16, 2007, just short of his 74th birthday, at Seniors Health Center, Toronto. Son of George Gooderham Blackstock and Bessie Hildegarde Brooke Bell. Brother to the late Katherine Brown (Grant). Husband to Marlis (nee Dyckerhoff) for 35 years, life long friend to Robert L. and Jenny Borden and friend to Jill Greenwell for many years. Uncle to Ian Brown (Wendy) and the late Kevin Brown (Kathy). Father to Jeffrey (Marie), Douglas (Maureen), Julia, Barbara, Patricia (Christian Boos) and Erik (Michele). Grandfather, known affectionately as "Grampa George� to Alexia Blackstock of Germany, Jill and Scott Blackstock of Ottawa, Leonard Kneebone of Kingston, Andrew, Mark and Peter Boos of Port Hope. A Canadian career diplomat, George lived with his family in many places around the world including Argentina, Switzerland, England, Sweden, Germany and the United States. His favourite place by far, however, was the outdoors on Bass Island on Lake Muskoka where he spent close to thirty summers enjoying the outdoors, swimming, sailing, water skiing and napping in a hammock under the pines. He will be missed. Special thanks to Callean Tinglin for her devoted care and attention for George over the last few years. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 19th. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20th in ST. JOHN�S ANGLICAN CHURCH YORK MILLS, 19 Don Ridge Road, North York with a reception to follow at the church.
