Obituary of James Blyth
Passed away, at home in Toronto surrounded by his caring family, on Saturday, February 24, 2007, at the age of 73, after a long illness.
A loving father and grandfather, Jim was born July 5, 1933 in Glasgow, Scotland. Jim immigrated to Canada in 1956 and enjoyed a long and successful career at Montreal Trust, the same company where he met his wife Mavis. Upon retirement, Jim and Mavis moved from Toronto to Stratford, Ontario where they enjoyed their retirement pursuit "Brigadoon, a successful bed and breakfast. Jims failing health and growing family led them back to Toronto where Jim enjoyed a close relationship with his treasured grandchildren. A fighting Scot until the end, Jims positive attitude enabled him to pass with dignity and without regrets. Jim will be remembered by all who knew him for his warmth, sense of humour and as the kindest of friends; truly a good man.
Surviving him are his devoted wife and best friend Mavis; son Christopher and wife Jennifer; son James and girlfriend Lara; grandchildren Hannah and Spencer Blyth; sister Catherine Graham, nieces Elizabeth, Katrina, Alison and families.
A very special heartfelt thanks to Beryl and John Woollett and Cindy Armstrong for their unconditional love and support. Sincere thanks to nurses Diane and Mischa and Doctors Webster, Granton and Rieger.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 12 noon until the service in the chapel at one oclock on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Sunnybrook Health and Sciences Centre, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4N 3M5.
