Obituary of Kenneth Stanford Woods

WOODS, Kenneth Stanford, BComm, CA Peacefully at home in Toronto, on January 22nd, 2007, surrounded by family, in his eightieth year. Devoted and loving husband of Barbara (nee Smith) for 54 years. Proud father of Cynthia, Larry (Deborah Penton), Christine (Glenn Crowell), and wonderful grandfather of Michael, Timothy, Matthew and Lindsey. Brother of Alan and (the late) Denis. Born in 1927 and raised in Toronto, he was a graduate of U of T Commerce �49, and earned his CA with Clarkson Gordon in 1952. He enjoyed 35 years as a Sears Canada executive (1953-1988) in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Saskatchewan. He spent 11 years with the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund (1988-1999). Ken loved travelling with Barbara, sailing (TSCC), golfing (Oakville GC), badminton, gardening, jazz, reading, and fixing things. He was a dedicated and involved Rotarian for 28 years. He will be remembered for his integrity, inquisitive mind, adventurous spirit, love for his family, and his great sense of humour. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, January 26th . A Memorial service will take place in LAWRENCE PARK COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2180 Bayview Avenue (south of Lawrence Ave. East) on Saturday, January 27th at 11 a.m.with a reception to follow.
