Jean Howarth

Obituary of Jean Kate Howarth

Succumbing to complications from pneumonia, Jean passed away very peacefully with family and friends by her side at North York General Hospital. She is predeceased by her parents Ruby (nee Waugh) and Arnold Iddon, by her beloved husband and best friend, Allen (1918-1982), and by her brother Douglas. She is survived by her son, Rick, and her daughter, Lynne (Janet McDougall), as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends of all ages and stages in her life. Jean had lived with cardiovascular issues since her bypass surgery in 1976. Her determination, positive attitude ("Im in pretty good shape for the shape Im in) and zest for life, not only kept her going, but also made her a favourite of all who met her. She loved life and the people in her life; helping others was her passion. She will be sorely missed by many. The family wishes to thank the staff at Cedarhurst Residence where Jean rediscovered the social world from which she had become distanced as the alzheimers /mixed dementia progressed. In accordance with her wishes, she has already been cremated. We will welcome family and friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, January 12th. A celebration of Jeans life will be held in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13th with reception to follow. If desired, donations would be appreciated to Ewart Angus Sprint Homes - Cedarhurst 2601 Bayview Avenue, Toronto M2L 1B5.
