I knew Norm through the Walking Stick Club. He was a delightful character, very friendly and very interesting and I am very sorry to read of his passing. He ha a bad back which bothered him especially when he stood still but not so much when he was walking so if the walking group stopped for any reason Norm would keep walking. Over lunch one day he described how his back problems resulted from two crashes he was involved in while flying as an air gunner during WW2. In the first his two engine Wellington which was flying over the North Sea lost an engine, flew back to land, steadily losing altitude and crashed in a field. In the second his badly shot up Halifax landed on top of another plane on the runway. His back was injured both times.
He will be sadly missed.
