NORAH CATHERINE FORSTER
(1918-2006)
Norah Catherine Forster, ne Walker, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Toronto on August 17, 2006. Norah was predeceased by her loving husband Rex Forster (1967) and her beloved sister Ruth Hopps (1999). Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Norah enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life - one lived with a rare grace felt by all who knew her. She was a bright student who graduated high school two years early at 16 and went on to the Vogue School of Design in Chicago. Upon graduation, she was invited to teach at the School, but chose to return to Canada to open the wedding bureau at the T. Eaton Company in Toronto. Ever elegant, gracious and cheerful, Norah leaves a precious legacy of great love and quiet strength for her children, Scott (wife Dawn), Heather (husband David Smith), James, Elizabeth (husband Jordan Klapman) and David (wife Michelle); and her grandchildren, Alexander (wife Kavitha), Kathleen, Laura, Sarah, Erin, Daniel, Tristan, and Simon. She is also survived by the children and families of her sister Ruth, the Patriquins, the Thomases, and Hopps, as well as by her sister-in-law Ora Selby and her family. Norah's family would like to extend their warmest gratitude to her exceptional and loving caregiver, Natividade Pereira. Remembrances can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Visitation with the family will be held at the Humphrey Funeral Home, A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Ave. East) on Monday, August 21, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Eglinton St. George's United Church, 35 Lytton Blvd. (at the corner of Lytton and Duplex Avenue in North Toronto) at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22.
