Obituary of Peter Purcell
The wildlife of Algonquin Park
will miss their best friend
Peacefully, with his loving daughters and dear friend Margaret by his side, Peter John Purcell passed away in his 84th year on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Huntsville, Ontario. Husband of the late Marilyn Purcell and dear friend of Margaret Evans. Son of the late Jack and Helen Purcell, brother of Bill, Phillip and Nancy (deceased). Loving Dad to his five daughters: Carol (John (deceased)), Cathy (Jimmy), Carrie (Laurie), Janet (Doug) and Susan (Rowan). Awesome Grampa to Naomi (deceased), Jeff, Joanna, Richard, Peter, Kevin, Laura, Warren, Michael, Dana, Matthew, Andrew and Sarah. Sadly missed by his treasured dogs Jasper and Lucy. Peter enjoyed a long and successful career as a stockbroker at Jack Purcell and Company, Midland-Doherty and Jones Gable and as a promoter with John Pollock and Company, Goldhunter Explorations, Guyana Goldfields and Precious Minerals. What he loved the most about the business was the people he met along the way. His happiest times were spent with his family and friends in Algonquin Park. He loved to laugh and have a good time. He taught all of us to enjoy life and to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature. The family would like to thank Dr. Jan Goosens for providing Peter with professional and compassionate medical care. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 12 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13 at Humphrey's at 10:00 am followed by a private burial. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a Celebration of Peter's life at 1:00 pm at 63 De Vere Gardens (Yonge St. and York Mills Blvd). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honour of Peter to The Friends of Algonquin Park, www.algonquinpark.on.ca/foap/.
