Obituary of Justice James Joseph Carthy

CARTHY, Justice James Joseph Born on May 8, 1933 and passed away on August 7, 2006 at Peterborough Civic Hospital. Beloved husband of Frances Anne Carthy for 46 years. Devoted father of Linda Hawthorne, David, Susan and John. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Taylor, Samantha, Austin, Meagan, Katie, Kevin and James. Brother of Susan Lumsden and Maureen Burton. James practiced law at Weir and Foulds for 30 years. He was a Bencher with the Law Society of Upper Canada for 14 years, a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a co-author of the Ontario Annual Practice. James was Appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1988. His spirit, integrity and humanity will be sadly missed. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, August 10th with the funeral service in the chapel at 3 o�clock. A reception will be held at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, 44 Price Street (just south of Summerhill Avenue and east of Yonge Street).
