Obituary of Sheila Margaret Ramsay
Ramsay, Sheila Margaret (ne Evans)
Born June 21st, 1937 in St. Alban's, Hertfordshire, England and died peacefully at home in Toronto on July 10, 2006. Predeceased by her beloved husband Colin (2003). Sheila is survived by her daughter Anne and her son James (Suzanne), and by her grandsons Christopher and Nathaneal. A wonderful mother and grandmother, Sheila was a gifted artist and a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, an active member of the Arts and Letters Club, and had many interests and an extensive circle of friends who loved her dearly and who mourn her passing. Before emigrating to Canada with Colin, Anne, and James in 1975, Sheila pursued a career in nursing at Charing Cross Hospital in London. In Canada she had the opportunity to explore her artistic interests and did so with enormous enthusiasm, as she approached all aspects of her life. She loved to travel, and took many adventurous holidays, both with Colin, and in recent years, independently. In 2004 she traveled to Egypt, fulfilling a lifelong desire. Sheila's infectious sense of humour, love of life, and generous spirit touched everyone she came in contact with. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A private funeral service was held at the Chapel of St. James-the-Less, Toronto on Friday, July 14th, 2006. A public memorial service will be held on July 21, 2006 at 11:00 oclock in THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. JAMES, 65 Church Street, Toronto. If desired, donations to the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation, R. Fraser Elliott Building, 5th floor, 5S-801, 190 Elizabeth St., Toronto ON M5G 2C4 would be greatly appreciated.
