BALL, Stanley
Peacefully, on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Kensington Gardens, Toronto, in his 102nd year. Beloved husband for 59 years of the late Ivy Muriel Lea Ball. Dear father of Laurel Bishop. Loving grandfather of Shauna, Sarah, and Ashley. Dear brother of Betty McWhinnie and the late Fred Ball. Stan grew up in Winnipeg and played football, basketball, and soccer with distinction. His sports career took him to Vancouver and later to Toronto. He was goalkeeper for the Westminster Royals during the 1927-28 season when they won the Dominion Championship. During the thirties he worked in northern Ontario for Roche Long Lac Gold Mines. After spending the war years with York Arsenal in Toronto, he joined John A. Huston Company where he was employed until his retirement 20 years later. Interment was held on Saturday, June 10th in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
