Obituary of Ruth Estella Vanderlip

VANDERLIP, Ruth Estella The death of Ruth E. Vanderlip occurred at 921 Millwood Road on June 4, 2006. Born in Brantford Township, Ruth was the second daughter of the late Fred Y. Vanderlip of U.E. Loyalist family roots, and Maud Mary (Fielden) Vanderlip; sister of Vera. After attending the Brantford Collegiate, Ruth attended the University of Toronto where she graduated in 1945 from Victoria College with an honour B.A. in �English Language and Literature.� She qualified as a secondary school teacher at the Ontario College of Education, and later as a librarian at the University of Toronto School of Library Science. As an English Teacher, and then School-Librarian she was employed by the Scarborough Board of Education for 35 years. A long-time member of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, she sang in the choir for 19 years. After retirement she enjoyed working for several years as a volunteer at the AGO�s historic house, The Grange. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13th in TIMOTHY EATON MEMORIAL CHURCH, 230 St. Clair Avenue West with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
