JOHN ANDREW "JACK RITCHIE
MD, RCAMC, RCPSC, Captain (Ret)
December 19, 1915 - May 30, 2006
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jack on May 30, 2006. He has gone to join his beloved wife Kaye who predeceased him in 1967. Jack is survived by his daughter June Alexis and son-in-law Bryan and son Spencer and daughter-in-law Cindy. Jack also leaves behind his two loving sisters Joyce (Port Credit) and Pat (Summerside, P.E.I.), sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. After serving with distinction in World War Two throughout Europe, Jack returned to his hometown of Charlottetown, P.E.I. and moved his family to Newmarket, Ontario. There he built a thriving medical practice and worked as Chief of Surgery in what was then known as York County Hospital. He retired for the second time in May 1994 after serving as an examining surgeon with the Workmans Compensation Board. The family would like to thank the many nurses, doctors and staff of North York General Hospital, especially those on 5 South and North for their compassion and caring. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 1st. A private burial service will be held. If desired, donations may be made to the North York Hospital Foundation, 4001 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario M2K 1E1. We leave the final words from Jack
"Remember me with smiles and laughter for thats the way I remember you.
If you only remember me with tears then dont remember me at all.
